The name of the ship came from the Siberian peninsula of Jamal. It measures 148 meters, it is 30 meters wide and has a draft of 11 meters. Its maximum speed is 38.2 km / h. Energy generates two OK-900A reactors (2 × 171 MW) and two steam turbine generators (2 × 27.6 MW). The icebreaker serves 189 crew members. The ship is equipped with a heliport and one hangar for one helicopter (Ka-27, Mi-2, Mi-8).
