Seaplane Be-200 – a Russian multipurpose amphibious aircraft

Seaplane Be-200  is also known as  Beriev Be-200 Altair (Russian: Бериев Бе-200)and it is a multipurpose amphibious aircraft designed by the Beriev Aircraft Company and manufactured by Irkut. Marketed as being designed for fire fighting, search and rescue, maritime patrol, cargo, and passenger transportation, it has a capacity of 12,000 litres (3,170 US gallons) of water, or up to 72 passengers.

The Be-200 was created on the basis of the scientific and technical reserve obtained during the implementation of the A-40 Albatross anti-submarine amphibian aircraft program. This made it possible to obtain high flight and seaworthy characteristics with a significantly reduced development time and material costs due to the almost complete elimination of experimental work on hydrodynamics and a sharp decrease in the volume of work on aerodynamics.
