How Canadian coast guards cut through thick ice covering the St. Mary’s River

 

Water freezing is a serious problem for ships, and if they get stuck in the middle of it that just means a lot of trouble for those stuck on it.

In order to avoid having this river that might have been used for transporting being completely stuck, the U.S and Canadian coast guards sent ships to cut the ice that formed on it.

It’s amazing to see all that ice floating on the river!
