Trucks without brakes | Runaway truck ramp and the crane used to lift the trucks

A runaway truck ramp is a traffic device that enables vehicles which are having braking problems to safely stop. It is typically a long, sand- or gravel-filled lane connected to a steep downhill grade section of a main road, and is designed to accommodate large trucks or buses. The ramp allows a moving vehicle’s kinetic energy to be dissipated gradually in a controlled and relatively harmless way, helping the operator to stop it safely without a damaging the truck.

In this video we will see also the reaction of the trucker without brakes when already is another truck on the emergency  runaway lane. Also we will see the crane used to lift the trucks from the gravel and put it on the asphalt.

Amazing, a very useful thing for truckers. I saw a lot of these on the Czech highway on the road to Austria.
