The main purpose of an icebreaking ship is to help the ships who get stuck in the ice or get trapped somewhere in the frozen waters of Antarctica. The most powerful icebreakers are nuclear powered which gives them an advantage in comparison to the diesel powered icebreakers. Some nuclear icebreaking ships are capable of breaking a large iceberg with their weight.
