Tatra 813 Kolos 8×8 vs 2 meter ditches

The classic Tatra trucks are known to be the true kings of difficult terrain, at least among trucks. And this happens especially thanks to the concept of traction and Tatra axles, which presupposes the existence of a modular traction tube, positioned in the center, to which the articulated axles are connected, with two independent semi-axles. Well, a video from the Czech Republic, with a Tatra 813 Kolos 8×8, shows how capable such a truck can be, especially in the 8×8 format, in an unexpected way.
The Tatra truck would have a large ground clearance, but not even 2 meters, many of us would say. However, the magic of this 8×8 traction formula came into action here in all its glory. The first deck remained suspended in the air when approaching the chain, and since about 75% of the weight is supported by the other decks, the truck did not follow the suspended deck, but remained stationary on the horizontal plane. And each succeeding deck passed through exactly the same suspension, and the truck continued to rest on the other decks, remaining a steadfast colossus and advancing unhindered by the huge ditch in front of it.

And this little magic of this truck is only possible from an 8×8 formula up, when there are at least two axles in the front and two in the back. Not even a Tatra truck with 6×6 traction could have passed the same way.
